The 2010 precinct caucuses will be held Tuesday, March 16 at 7 p.m. Click here to find out your precinct number.
What are precinct caucuses? They are the first step in the 2010 election process. Registered Democrats in each precinct meet to accomplish these items: - Declare preference for a US Senate candidate (Michael Bennet, Andrew Romanoff or uncommitted)
- Elect up to two Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) for each precinct. PCPs represent their precinct within the Arapahoe County Democratic Party. PCPs are encouraged to attend regularly scheduled house district meetings and are also eligible to attend all Arapahoe County Democratic Party Central Committee meetings.
- Elect delegates (based on preference declaration) to the county assembly, which in turn will be the delegates who can continue on to the congressional district and state assemblies. The county assembly will be April 10 at Hinkley High School.
- Pass resolutions that will be considered for the state party platform.
It must be emphasized that if you wish to be included as a delegate in any of the steps that come during 2010, you must begin by being at your precinct caucus. Any voter registered as a Democrat by January 19, 2010 is eligible to attend the caucuses. |
